Our Instructor

Ms Karen Sin has had 28 years of experience in music schools and guitar ensemble and was the pioneer of primary school ensembles in the early 1980s.

She attended Phillipines Womans’ Univeristy Flamenco Guitar Master Classes with Professor J Valdez and Classical Guitar Master Classes with World Guitarist John Mills in Yorkshire Leeds, UK and she also holds an Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM) Grade 8 in Guitar.

Under her tutelage, North Spring Primary School’s Guitar ensemble has attained 3 consecutive SYF Gold Awards and Woodlands Secondary become the first Neighbourhood school to achieve a Gold Medal in the Secondary Schools Guitar Ensemble category for the Singapore Youth Festival.

About Us

Hua Yi Guitar Ensemble first started out as a Student-initiated Activity in  2008. It has since grown from a small group of less than 10 students, to its current strength of 35.

Under the tutelage and guidance of Ms Karen Sin,

HYSS Guitar Ensemble aims to inculcate and equip each child with
